    Impressive Durability With Proper Application

I love this stuff, and I love the company’s customer service.

I’ve repeatedly (and happily) gotten 10–12 days of presentable wear out of this brand. I’m usually not careful with my hands at all during that time, and it still looks good. My nail growth actually starts showing before any real chipping happens. Most of the time, the growth line motivates me to remove it more than the chips do.

In the picture, I’m wearing one coat of Red Bottom Stilettos topped with one coat of Out of the Cellar. I used the full system. I’ve seen people say this (and regular polish) doesn’t last past a day, but that’s usually because the products aren’t being applied the way they’re designed to be. Too-thick coats or skipping base and protective layers will make almost any polish fail fast.

Here’s what I did (very similar to my regular polish routine):

    1. Washed my hands

    2. Swiped nails with rubbing alcohol to remove lingering oils

    3. SOPHi primer/sealer (base)

    4. Two coats of color

    5. Another layer of primer/sealer

    6. SOPHi top coat

Tip: Use a small fan or a hair dryer on low, cool settings between layers to help each coat set. My favorite part is that once the final coat is dry, you can basically get on with your day.

This is almost the same process I use with traditional polish, but the SOPHi/Piggy Paint formulas last even longer on me when I follow the system properly.

Chemical geek moment (I find this fascinating lol): SOPHi dries differently than regular polish. If proper steps are followed, it sets up into a surprisingly tough finish. It forms its finish as water evaporates, and a little airflow between coats helps the film settle. Once the last layer bonds, it is dry and ready for everyday things. I avoid a long, hot, steamy shower for about 4 to 6 hours. It keeps gaining its final hardness over the next 24 hours, but you do not have to tiptoe around it since at about 4 to 6 hours after proper application, volatile evaporation curve is complete, polymer particle deformation threshold is reduced, micro-void content drops, surface hardness enters an early plateau, and water absorption coefficient drops.

TL;DR: Translation: science says you don’t have to walk around like a T-rex anymore.

    Love!

Thank you so much for your kind words and amazing review! We love that Red Bottom Stilettos gives you such long-lasting wear. Your detailed routine is such a great guide for others — and your “science moment” made us smile! We’re so glad you’re loving SOPHi.

This nail polish chips quite easily and I believe it’s due to the conscious choice of avoiding certain chemicals but due to this it causes it to be quite easily chipped

Since SOPHi is water-based and non-toxic, it requires a bit different application than traditional nail polish. First, apply a very thin layer of Primer & make sure it's completely dry before applying polish. You also need really thin layers of the polish & it should be completely dry (use blow dryer) before applying Shine Topcoat. This should help the polish not crack!
